Voice entry
On the Expense tab, tap the microphone and say what you spent. Ordinary sentences work — "spent five hundred on groceries", or "paid three thousand for rent".
Zebal works out the item, the amount and the category, fills the form in, and shows you what it understood so you can check before saving.
This also works when adding a group expense.
Scanning receipts
The same AI also reads a photographed receipt — point your camera at it and Zebal breaks it into item-wise expenses instead of you typing each one out. Full steps are in Adding Expenses.
Ask AI
Tap the search icon at the top of the screen. You can type a question or tap the microphone and speak it.
Ask in any language
Ask in English, Hindi, Hinglish or anything else — the answer comes back in the same language you used. You don't need to change any setting.
Things you can ask
- "Where did I spend the most?"
- "Am I within my budget?"
- "How much did I spend on food this month?"
- "Compare with last month"
Four of these are available as one-tap buttons in the dialog, so common questions don't need typing at all.
Hearing the answer
Ask by voice and the answer is read aloud automatically. For a typed question, the speaker icon next to the answer reads it out.
Summaries the app writes for you

The group check-in deliberately talks about the group as a whole. It won't single anyone out by name, because everyone in the group can read it.
What to watch out for
AI output can be wrong. It can mishear an amount, pick the wrong category, or misread a pattern in your spending. Always check what it has entered before saving.
Treat its suggestions as prompts to think about, not as financial advice. The app only sees what you've entered, and any decision about your money is yours.
What gets sent, and what doesn't
When you use an AI feature, the relevant expense information is sent to Google to generate the answer — only what that request needs. It isn't used to train Google's models.
If you would rather not send anything, simply don't use these features. Every part of Zebal works without them: expenses, budgets, groups and reports are all fully usable by typing.
