What Zebal does
- Speak your expenses Say what you spent and Zebal works out the amount and category for you. It understands English, Hindi, and other languages.
- Scan a receipt Point your camera at a receipt and Zebal reads it for you, splitting it into item-wise expenses instead of you typing each one out. Works for your own expenses and for group expenses too.
- Split bills with groups Share expenses with family, flatmates or friends. Zebal works out who owes what, and settles up over UPI.
- Budgets that make sense Set a monthly limit, carry unspent money forward, and get a warning before your cycle ends.
- Ask questions in plain language "Where did I spend the most?" — ask by typing or speaking, and hear the answer read back to you.
- Built to be accessible Full screen reader support, adjustable text size, and a dark mode. Every control is properly labelled and sized.

Is Zebal free?
Yes — every core feature (expenses, budgets, groups, wishlist goals) is free to use. AI features run on a credit system; you can earn more credits by watching an optional rewarded ad, or get unlimited AI use through an optional subscription. Nothing is ever required to use the app.

Is my data safe?
Your expenses are stored encrypted on your own device by default. Online Backup is optional — if you turn it on, a copy is kept in Google Firebase so you can restore it on a new phone. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Does it work without an internet connection?
Adding, viewing and editing expenses by typing works offline, since your data lives on your device. Voice entry, Receipt Scan, Ask AI and the AI summaries need an internet connection, since those go through Google's AI.

Which languages does voice entry understand?
English, Hindi, and other languages — just speak naturally, Zebal works out the amount, item and category from what you say.

Do I need a group to use Zebal?
No. Personal expense tracking, budgets and wishlist goals all work on their own. Groups are there for when you want to split bills with family, flatmates or friends, but nothing requires one.

Is there an iOS version?
Not right now — Zebal is Android only at the moment.

Can I delete my data?
Yes, at any time, from Settings — either erase everything on just this device, or delete your account entirely, including your online backup. See the Privacy Policy for what each option does.
